Today, you can get pretty much anything you need with a few clicks or taps online. Music and videos. Groceries. Even a date.
But until recently, personal health data hasn't been so easy to access. It's always been scattered in different places, forcing you to log into individual health care provider portals. It's complicated and frankly, pretty lame.
The HealthToGo platform is part of a plan to change all that, so your health data is in the rightful hands of the people who need it: you (duh), your doctors, and -- with your permission -- innovators who can help put health data to its best use.
When providers allow your health data to be accessed through publicly-available standards, that allows app developers to create unique software that uses your health data to improve the healthcare experience. If you can imagine it, there's probably a developer out there making an app for it.
For example, you don't have to wait until your next doctor's appointment to figure out if your cardiovascular risk has gone up. There is, quite literally, an app for that now. Have trouble tracking your insulin dosages? Another app charts that for you. Just moved to another state and had to get all new doctors? It's now easy to share your medical history rather than filling out the same archaic medical history form 700 times.
And APIs help often-overworked health care providers be more efficient, too. Say you're in an accident and rushed to the hectic ER. Urgent care specialists will be able to immediately see everything they need to know about you. If your doctor wants to take a look at your current and past prescriptions, they will be able to do so at the touch of a button.
The HealthToGo Team is thrilled to be a part of this movement to bring about improvements in healthcare delivery. But we know patient input is a crucial step in this journey. As we get started, we need to hear from you. Take a few moments to let us know how we're doing, what you think. Because we're just getting started here...
